Hmm, I'm running 6.2.2 on 64-bit Windows 7, and I get the control panel on UMS. What confuses me is that sometimes I get the scrolling name of the file I'm playing and sometimes I don't.

Lucky you are ;) I am on Windows XP SP3 and i just get an little empty windows :?
If you mean that when you are playing the same file, sometimes the tittle is scrolling and sometimes not, it's weird.

Did you have the same problem with UMS anterior version ?

Ah, we're not on the same OS.

What I mean on my problem is that sometimes when I start UMS and play any number of files, the name never scrolls across; it's just blank. And other times I start UMS, they will, and it will work for as long as I have UMS running that session (before shutting off or rebooting). It's been happening for many, many versions now. I may have finally tracked it down today. I had thought UMS and to be running before turning on the PS3, UMS didn't like IE11 running concurrently, etc, but that wasn't it.

If I have Windows Mail open when I start UMS, it will not scroll. I can quit UMS and WinMail, then restart UMS and it will scroll again. I will do more testing, but I managed to get it going from not working to working so that's good.
