Two questions: Streaming PC > Mac, and random devices showing up
Hello everyone. I have two questions.
I have a desktop as a main computer that has everything, as in music, movies, episodes etc. My wife has a MacBook and I've been trying to find a way to stream from my PC to her mac. Is this possible?
Question number two. I had a random TV showing up in my media server, a Samsung Smart TV (E-Type). My first reaction was that someone is mooching my WiFi, so I change the password. It's gone, but next day it's back. So I change password again. Same thing happens. I take more drastic measures and configure my WiFi so it doesn't show up in scans, so for someone to connect, one would have to manually enter the SSID (which I changed as well) to find the network. However, the random Samsung TV still pops up. Interestingly, my brother said he recalls this happening to him as well, a Samsung E Type TV showing up as a renderer. So I was wondering if this is maybe some sort of a bug?
I did some searching on both topics but came up short, so I apologize in advance if this has already been covered
.
Happy weekend everyone !

1. The easiest and fastest way for your wife to play content from your PC is to simply let her mac connect to a share on your PC. And then play files with VLC (for mac)

2. UMS has some security options, more specificly .. you can create a "UMS.deny" -file (in C:\ProgramData\UMS) and specify IP's that should be denied access.
I have not tried it myself, but you can read more about it here: https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer ... d-Security
Tip: If you click on the render icon in "Status" tab of UMS, it should show you the IP of the "Samsung TV" you mentioned
