My TV supports the file as is - but it keeps transcoding

Post by isaacTV »

Hi,

My TV is a brand new TCL Smart TV that has support for a lot of different formats including h265.

I am trying to play a file but UMS keeps transcoding the file even though it shouldn't be. My renderer isn't supported out of the box so I just copied a new Samsung TV configuration file for it. I know the file works without transcoding as I've played it by going into the transcoding folder and selecting the no transcode option. I have even tried using the stream extensions and having all extension in there like the generic android file but it still transcodes it.

Please advise on how to stop UMS from transcoding this file and just sending it normally as I can't seek when transcoding on this TV.

I have tried this on the versions 6.3 and the latest version and no luck.

*EDIT* I figured out the problem. The files I were trying to play had AC3 audio and in UMS settings i had ticked encoded passthru which was causing it to transcode the files so i changed that to keep AC3 and DTS tracks and they now are streamed without transcoding!

Hi isaacTV, glad you fixed the issue. If you attach logs we can create a config for your TV so others can benefit from your experience :)

Hi SubJunk,

I made a post on the Help us improve support thread, which has my logs on it.
