UMS on Win7 to Rotel RT12 makes a loud chattering noise!
Problem: loud chattering noise when trying to send a hires FLAC file to a Rotel RT12 tuner in the same wired network.
I'm not new to computers (started in 1968!), but a newbie when it comes to configuring media servers. I have a mixed network, win 7 and Mac OSX. I also have a networked Rotel RT12 tuner in my hifi system, to which I want to stream FLAC hires audio files. The Rotel says it does play FLACs. Everything is connected by ethernet (I set this to 100MBps). I have the test FLAC file on the Dell Vostro Win 7 machine. I can play it on Windows Media Player directly (with the FLAC codec), but when I try to connect the Rotel to it, all works fine for MP3 files but the Rotel doesn't see the FLAC file.
So I installed the current windows version of UMS on the Win 7 computer. It sees the Rotel and the Rotel sees it. It also shows the file in the music list (unlike WMP). But when I try to play the file, the staccato chattering noise sets up. Also, the MP3 file plays without a problem. Seems to me it may be a bit rate problem. The logs don't indicate anything abnormal. Can anyone suggest a cause for this, and the remedy?

Re: UMS on Win7 to Rotel RT12 makes a loud chattering noise!
A bit more: when I hear the chattering, the Rotel reports 44.1kHz 16 bit FLAC. The original file is 192/24. Is there a way to configure the FLAC codec, or is the fault in the Rotel?

Force flac to be streamed in the appropriate renderer conf file (check in logs):
StreamExtensions = mkv,hdmov,hdm,flac,fla,dts,ogg,asf,asx,m2v
