Several problems with streaming on Samsung devices

Post by nouse »

First, many thanks for this valuable tool. It basically fixed all the problems i had with samsung allplay/link. I do have some basic issues (i am a beginner after all), of which i dont even know if they are related to UMS or the devices:

1. Issues with TV (Samsung UE series).
The TV is connected via LAN and a fritzbox to my server (running on a win10 machine). Usually everything is fine. However,
a) smaller (!) recordings of 1080p TV shows (*.ts files) usually forces the TV to crash and fall back to the source selection menu after giving a "check your network settings" error message. Is this due to network/UMS/TV and is there a way to fix it? Otherwise, i can stream hours of concert recordings (1080p as well) to the TV just fine. it only affects smaller files (f.e. 5 mins, 500 MB, sth like this)
b) The TV seems to be limited in terms of playable codecs. Especially with said *.ts files i often get a "file not supported" error. Can this apparent TV problem be fixed with UMS, without recoding the files on my pc?

2. Issues with tablet (Samsung galaxy tab 4) with BubbleUPnP-App, WLAN (1 Gbit) and MX Player
Just installed today, i can stream some files just fine, others dont even start, or take a minute or so. I guess this is due transcoding / missing codices. Is there anyway to improve here, be it on the server or on the device?

Thank you!
