so my ps3 finally died and i'd like to just get a stand alone bluray player. i don't care about wi-fi or 3D. are there any models you all would recommend which work well with UMS? are 1080p videos going to work just as well on a stand alone player as the ps3? e.g. i have only ever used UMS with the ...

UPDATE (temporary fix):

i reverted back to UMS v3.1.0 and all the movies which were only giving static for audio are working just fine again. it appears that their was some change made between 3.1 and 3.3 that is causing this issue. i am kind of surprised that more people aren't experiencing it ...

any ideas?

i am having some issues playing certain, but not all, movie files with UMS 3.3. i didn't have these issues with UMS 3.1 (not sure about 3.2 as i didn't watch any movies with that version). i did a 'clean install' when upgrading from 3.2 to 3.3.

also, just fyi, the remote subtitle switching problem happens on the Playstation Media Server as well. it didn't use to, but i confirmed that it now does. something must have changed in the shared code a few versions ago.
